Abstract

ABSTRACT

Learning concentration is an essential condition that supports students’ engagement throughout the learning process; however, some students still experience difficulties in focusing and sustaining their attention during classroom activities. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of group counseling services using the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) technique in improving the learning concentration of Grade VIII-B students at SMP Negeri 3 Sitolu Ori. The study employed a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design involving 20 students selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that met the required validity and reliability criteria. The research procedure began with measuring students’ learning concentration through a pre-test, followed by the implementation of group counseling integrating the SFBT technique, and concluded with a post-test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, multiple linear regression, and a Paired Sample t-Test with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The mean learning concentration score increased from 41.25 to 72.70, with an N-Gain score of 0.56, categorized as moderate. Simultaneous analysis indicated that both intervention components contributed 60.0% to learning concentration. These findings suggest that integrating group counseling with SFBT can serve as an alternative guidance and counseling intervention to support improvements in students’ learning concentration.
