The tendency toward binge watching Thai Boys Love (BL) series among students may generate psychological and academic consequences when left unaddressed. This study aimed to describe the pattern, contributing factors, and impact of binge watching tendency, and to examine the effectiveness of individual counseling based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) using the metaphor technique in reducing this tendency among eleventh-grade students at a vocational high school in Tegal City. A mixed-methods approach with a sequential exploratory design was employed, beginning with qualitative exploration through interviews, observation, and documentation, followed by quantitative measurement using a Likert-type binge watching tendency scale whose validity and reliability had been established (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.971). Five students identified as exhibiting binge watching tendencies were selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Findings indicate that the subjects' binge watching tendency emerged from an interaction of psychological, social, and technological factors, producing both relaxation benefits and adverse effects such as disrupted sleep patterns and reduced learning concentration. The mean score decreased from 77.6 at pre-test to 66.8 at post-test, and the Wilcoxon test yielded Z = -2.023 with a significance level of 0.043 (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that ACT-based individual counseling using the metaphor technique effectively and meaningfully reduced students' binge watching tendency.
