PENERAPAN KONSELING KELOMPOK BERBASIS PENDEKATAN REALITA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN SELF CONFIDENCE SISWA

ABSTRACT
Self-confidence is an important aspect of student development as it influences their ability to interact, make decisions, and face various challenges in the learning process. Low self-confidence can be influenced by both internal and external factors, such as lack of family support, low learning motivation, and an unsupportive social environment. These conditions highlight the importance of effective guidance and counseling services to help students develop optimal self-confidence. This study aimed to analyze the effect of group counseling using the reality approach on students’ self-confidence at SMPN 3 Keruak in the 2023/2024 academic year. The research employed a one-group pre-test post-test design. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students totaling 61 students, with a sample of 13 students who had low levels of self-confidence based on the pre-test results selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the t-test to determine differences in self-confidence levels before and after the intervention. The results showed that the calculated t value (28.738) was greater than the t table value (2.179) at the 5% significance level, indicating that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. These findings indicate that group counseling with a reality approach is effective in improving students’ self-confidence and can be used as an intervention strategy in school guidance and counseling services.

Sikap percaya diri merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan siswa karena memengaruhi kemampuan mereka dalam berinteraksi, mengambil keputusan, dan menghadapi berbagai tantangan pembelajaran. Rendahnya kepercayaan diri dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal maupun eksternal, seperti kurangnya perhatian keluarga, rendahnya motivasi belajar, serta lingkungan pergaulan yang kurang mendukung. Kondisi ini menunjukkan pentingnya layanan bimbingan dan konseling yang efektif untuk membantu siswa mengembangkan kepercayaan diri secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh konseling kelompok dengan pendekatan realitas terhadap kepercayaan diri siswa di SMPN 3 Keruak Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain one group pre-test post-test. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII yang berjumlah 61 siswa, dengan sampel sebanyak 13 siswa yang memiliki tingkat kepercayaan diri rendah berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji t untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kepercayaan diri sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai t hitung sebesar 28,738 lebih besar daripada t tabel sebesar 2,179 pada taraf signifikansi 5%, sehingga Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa konseling kelompok dengan pendekatan realitas efektif dalam meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa dan dapat digunakan sebagai strategi intervensi dalam layanan bimbingan dan konseling di sekolah.
