Abstract

Occupational safety in high-risk industrial environments is heavily influenced by individual psychological factors, particularly safety self-efficacy and safety behavior, which surfaced as critical issues following the initial competency test failure rates at Pertamina HSE Training Center Palembang. This quantitative study utilized a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design to analyze the effect of the Fireman Level 1 Training Model on safety self-efficacy and safety behavior among 40 outsourced workers divided equally into experimental and control groups. Data were gathered using the Safety Self-Efficacy Scale and Safety Behavior Scale at pretest and posttest, and subsequently examined via parametric comparative tests and linear regression analysis. The Independent Samples t-test revealed significant improvements in safety self-efficacy (t=-6.456; p<0.001) and safety behavior (t=-5.012; p<0.001), with experimental group gain scores (+23.55 and +24.70 points) markedly exceeding those of the control group (+12.35 and +6.66 points). Posttest regression analysis yielded a non-significant relationship (R^2=0.039; p=0.225) due to a ceiling effect emerging from uniformly high post-intervention scores across participants. This study concludes that the Fireman Level 1 Training Model exerts a significant positive impact on reinforcing participants' safety self-efficacy and safety behavior.
