Abstract

In the fast-paced digital era, conventional libraries face significant challenges as students and information users tend to shift to more accessible digital sources, resulting in a decline in physical visits. Realizing this urgency, an innovative study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the coloring therapy strategy in increasing interest in visiting the library at Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang, especially at the Lawang Campus 2 Service. Coloring therapy was chosen as a creative solution that not only offers a relaxing activity amidst academic pressure, but also has an educational element and can create a more attractive atmosphere in the library. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive method, involving 25 respondents who provided feedback through a questionnaire measuring five indicators of innovation: relative advantage, suitability, complexity, possibility to try, and ease of observation. The results were very encouraging; coloring therapy was very well received by respondents, with an average score reaching 81.55%, indicating a positive perception of the five indicators. Furthermore, the implementation of this strategy proved successful in significantly increasing the number of library visits, from 124 visitors before the intervention to 217 visitors after the study was conducted. This success indicates that innovations such as coloring therapy have great potential for sustainable implementation as an effective way to re-engage visitors and revitalize the library’s role as a relevant and desirable physical space.
