Abstract

The workload felt by teachers often makes them unable to be creative in developing classroom learning. In addition, stress management and balance between work and family life are things that need to be considered because they affect teachers' energy in the process of producing creative learning. This study aims to examine the effect of workload on creativity and how stress and work-life balance moderate the effect of workload on teacher creativity. The research location is a public junior high school in Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. This study employs PLS-SEM and simple random sampling, utilizing primary data from four public junior high schools in Cibinong District. The results of the study prove that (1) workload has a significant effect on teacher creativity; (2) stress does not moderate the effect of workload on teacher creativity; (3) work-life balance significantly moderates the effect of workload on teacher creativity. Through this study, it appears that a high work-life balance can weaken the impact of workload on decreasing teacher creativity in developing learning. The implications of this study are (1) for policymakers to design teacher workload in such a way that teachers are not burdened with complex administration; (2) for teachers, it is recommended to develop strategies to maintain work-life balance, such as time management, setting clear boundaries regarding work, and carrying out energy recovery activities.
