PENGARUH SELF-EFFICACY, STUDENT ENGAGEMENT, DAN LOCUS OF CONTROL TERHADAP MINAT KARIR SEBAGAI GURU

ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy, student engagement, and locus of control on career interest as a teacher among undergraduate students of the Office Administration Education Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, class of 2022. The study is motivated by a gap between the orientation of a teacher-education program and the students’ actual career interest, in which most students have not shown a strong interest in becoming teachers. This research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory method. The population consisted of 187 students, and a sample of 127 students was determined using the proportionate random sampling technique with the Slovin formula. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results show that, partially, self-efficacy and student engagement have a positive and significant effect on career interest as a teacher, whereas locus of control has no significant effect. Simultaneously, the three variables have a positive and significant effect on career interest as a teacher, with a contribution of 62.8%. Therefore, self-belief in one’s own ability and student involvement in the learning process are important factors in fostering career interest as a teacher, so that strengthening both aspects should be a priority in the education of prospective teachers.
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh self-efficacy, student engagement, dan locus of control terhadap minat karir sebagai guru pada mahasiswa Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Administrasi Perkantoran Universitas Negeri Surabaya angkatan 2022. Latar belakang penelitian adalah adanya kesenjangan antara orientasi program studi kependidikan dengan minat karir aktual mahasiswa, di mana sebagian besar mahasiswa belum menunjukkan ketertarikan yang kuat untuk menjadi guru. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksplanatori. Populasi berjumlah 187 mahasiswa dan sampel sebanyak 127 mahasiswa ditentukan menggunakan teknik proportionate random sampling melalui rumus Slovin. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berskala Likert lima poin dan dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial self-efficacy dan student engagement berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap minat karir sebagai guru, sedangkan locus of control tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Secara simultan, ketiga variabel berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap minat karir sebagai guru dengan kontribusi sebesar 62,8%. Dengan demikian, keyakinan terhadap kemampuan diri dan keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran menjadi faktor penting dalam menumbuhkan minat karir sebagai guru, sehingga penguatan kedua aspek tersebut perlu menjadi perhatian dalam proses pendidikan calon guru.
