Literature learning in schools is still predominantly dominated by a textual approach that focuses on understanding the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of literary works, resulting in limited development of students’ critical literacy skills. At the same time, the rapid advancement of digital technology, the growing utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the demands of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) require innovative learning models capable of integrating critical thinking, digital literacy, and global awareness. This study aims to develop a digital literature learning model based on literary criticism, SDGs, and AI to strengthen students’ critical literacy. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from the Borg and Gall model, consisting of needs analysis, planning, product development, expert validation, revision, limited field testing, and evaluation stages. The participants included Indonesian language teachers and 32 eleventh-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Wonogiri. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, expert validation sheets, and pretest-posttest assessments, and were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results produced a learning model comprising six main stages: issue orientation, close reading, literary criticism, reflective discussion, creative production, and authentic assessment. Expert validation indicated a feasibility score of 86.8%, categorized as highly feasible. The limited field trial demonstrated an improvement in students’ critical literacy, with the mean score increasing from 59.7 to 83.2 and an N-Gain score of 0.58, which falls within the moderate category. The findings reveal that the integration of literary criticism, SDGs, and AI promotes a more critical, reflective, contextual, and relevant literature learning process aligned with the demands of twenty-first-century education. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic integration of literary criticism, SDGs, and AI within a single instructional design framework to enhance students’ critical literacy.
