Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by complex emotional changes and an increasing need for psychological support from the family environment. Rapid emotional fluctuations, identity exploration, and heightened social sensitivity often create challenges in parent–adolescent relationships. These conditions require parents to develop adequate emotion regulation and psychological reflective capacities in order to provide adaptive parenting. This community service program aimed to strengthen parents’ roles in emotion regulation, psychological reflection, and the management of adolescents’ potential through a reflective journaling approach. The program was conducted at SMP M Pabuaran, Bogor Regency, involving 65 parents of students from grades VII, VIII, and IX. A participatory method was employed, including interactive lectures, group discussions, role-playing activities, and guided expressive writing practices. The results indicated that parents gained new insights into the importance of emotion regulation in adolescent parenting and became more aware of their own emotional patterns that influence interactions with their children. Moreover, journaling activities facilitated parents’ reflective abilities, enhanced their understanding of adolescents’ emotional needs, and supported the development of more positive and realistic parenting strategies. These findings suggest that reflective journaling can serve as a simple, applicable, and sustainable psychoeducational tool to support emotion-based and reflective parenting practices in school-based community programs.
