PENERAPAN CHUNKING STRATEGY UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMAHAMI TEKS DALAM BAHASA INGGRIS PADA SMK KESEHATAN NUSANIWE AMBON

This study aims to improve the ability to understand texts in English in Nusaniwe Ambon Health Vocational High School students by implementing a chunking strategy. This research is a class action research conducted at the Nusaniwe Ambon Health Vocational School in September 2021 with a total of 28 class XI students as research subjects. Based on the results of this classroom action research, it can be concluded that the application of learning by implementing a chunking strategy has succeeded in increasing the learning outcomes of class X students of the Nusaniwe Ambon Health Vocational School in improving the ability to understand English texts. This can be seen from the increase in the number of students who have achieved the KKM with the learning outcomes of 15 students (53.57%) in cycle I increasing to 21 students (75%) in cycle II. This increase is in line with the increase in teacher performance. In cycle I the average score of teacher performance was 21.67 or 72.22% of the ideal score increasing to 25.33 or 84.44% in cycle II.
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memahami teks dalam bahasa inggris pada siswa SMK Kesehatan Nusaniwe Ambon dengan penerapan chunking strategy. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di SMK Kesehatan Nusaniwe Ambon pada September 2021 dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik kelas XI yang berjumlah 28 orang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tindakan kelas ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan chunking strategy telah berhasil meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas X SMK Kesehatan Nusaniwe Ambon dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memahami teks bahasa inggris . Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan jumlah peserta didik yang telah mencapai KKM dengan hasil belajar 15 peserta didik (53,57%) pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 21 peserta didik (75%) pada siklus II. Peningkatan ini seiring dengan peningkatan kinerja guru. Pada siklus I skor rata-rata kinerja guru 21,67 atau 72,22% dari skor ideal meningkat menjadi 25,33 atau 84,44% pada siklus II.
