NORMA MORAL DAN INTENSI KORUPSI AKADEMIK MAHASISWA: PERAN MEDIASI MORAL DISENGAGEMENT DALAM KONTEKS PENDIDIKAN TINGGI

Corruption is no longer confined to government institutions but has also penetrated the educational sector, including higher education. University students, who are expected to act as agents of change, may become involved in corrupt practices, particularly academic corruption. This study focuses on examining the relationship between moral norms and students' intention to engage in corruption, as well as the mediating role of moral disengagement in that relationship. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach with a convenience sampling technique. A total of 348 students from various universities in Surabaya participated in this study. Three psychological instruments were used to measure moral norms, moral disengagement, and intention to engage in corruption. Data were analyzed using mediation analysis with Hayes' PROCESS Macro Model 4. The results indicate that moral norms have a significant positive relationship with the intention to commit corruption, and moral disengagement partially mediates this relationship. These findings suggest that students with strong moral norms may still develop corrupt intentions when they justify their actions through moral disengagement mechanisms. The study concludes that moral education in higher education institutions should not only focus on cognitive understanding but also emphasize affective and behavioral internalization to prevent rationalization of unethical conduct.
ABSTRAK
Fenomena korupsi tidak hanya terjadi di sektor pemerintahan, tetapi juga telah menjalar ke dunia pendidikan, termasuk di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Mahasiswa sebagai agen perubahan justru berpotensi terlibat dalam tindakan koruptif, khususnya dalam bentuk korupsi akademik. Penelitian ini berfokus pada hubungan antara norma moral dan intensi melakukan korupsi pada mahasiswa, serta peran moral disengagement sebagai mediator dalam hubungan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik convenience sampling. Sampel terdiri atas 348 mahasiswa dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di Surabaya. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari tiga skala psikologis, yaitu skala norma moral, moral disengagement, dan intensi korupsi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis mediasi dengan PROCESS Macro Model 4 dari Hayes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa norma moral memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap intensi melakukan korupsi, serta terdapat mediasi parsial oleh moral disengagement dalam hubungan tersebut. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa dengan tingkat norma moral tinggi tetap berpotensi memiliki intensi untuk melakukan korupsi apabila mereka merasionalisasi perilaku tersebut melalui mekanisme moral disengagement. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pendidikan nilai moral di perguruan tinggi yang tidak hanya bersifat kognitif, tetapi juga menyentuh aspek afektif dan perilaku, guna menekan rasionalisasi terhadap tindakan tidak etis.
