Abstract

This study aimed to examine the roles of loneliness and perceived social support in psychological well-being among migrant students. Migrant students are important to study because they face academic, social, and emotional adjustment demands in a new environment, which may affect their psychological well-being. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 126 migrant students as respondents. Data were collected using loneliness, perceived social support, and psychological well-being scales, and were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results showed that loneliness had a negative role in psychological well-being, whereas perceived social support had a positive role in psychological well-being. In addition, both variables jointly contributed to explaining psychological well-being among migrant students. These findings indicate that lower levels of loneliness and higher levels of perceived social support are associated with better psychological well-being among migrant students. Practically, the results may serve as a basis for universities to develop mentoring programs, peer support groups, and adjustment counseling services for migrant students.
