ANALISIS PEMECAHAN MASALAH SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL SHARING TASK DAN JUMPING TASK BERDASARKAN GAYA KOGNITIF

Low problem-solving ability is a serious problem in education. One of the efforts to improve problem solving skills is by applying the Polya model problem solving. Solving the problem of the Polya model can be used to solve mathematical problems in the form of sharing tasks (ST) and jumping tasks (JT). Students' problem-solving abilities in solving ST and JT questions can be influenced by cognitive style. This study aims to analyze students' problem solving in solving ST and JT questions based on field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD) cognitive styles. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted on 4 students of SMP Negeri 1 Jember based on purposive sampling technique. The results of the data analysis showed that FI students had very good problem solving abilities and were good at working on ST questions. If FI students work on JT questions, FI students have good problem-solving abilities and are quite good. Meanwhile, FD students had poor problem solving abilities and were good at solving ST and JT questions.

Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan masalah serius dalam pendididikan. Salah satu upaya meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan menerapkan pemecahan masalah model Polya. Pemecahan masalah model Polya dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah matematis berupa sharing task (ST) dan jumping task (JT). Kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal ST dan JT dapat dipengaruhi oleh gaya kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemecahan masalah siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal ST dan JT berdasarkan gaya kognitif field independent (FI) dan field dependent (FD). Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap 4 orang siswa SMP Negeri 1 Jember berdasarkan teknik purpose sampling. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa FI memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat baik dan baik dalam mengerjakan soal ST. Apabila siswa FI mengerjakan soal JT, siswa FI memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah baik dan cukup baik. Sedangkan siswa FD memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah kurang baik dan baik dalam menyelesaikan soal ST maupun JT.
