HUBUNGAN ANTARA FEAR OF MISSING OUT (FOMO) DENGAN INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL PADA GENERASI Z

This study aims to determine the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and the intensity of social media use in Generation Z. The method used is a quantitative research method with a correlational design to determine the relationship between FoMO (independent variable) and the Intensity of Social Media Use in Generation Z (dependent variable). The sampling technique applied is nonprobability sampling with the sampling technique method used is purposive sampling. The subjects in this study were Generation Z individuals aged 18–27 years who actively use social media for at least more than three hours per day, with a total of 104 respondents. The data collection method used a questionnaire with a Likert scale with four answer options. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman's rho correlation method via SPSS version 21.0. The results of the correlation test showed a coefficient value of 0.796 with a significance of 0.000, indicating a very strong and positive relationship between FoMO and the intensity of social media use. This finding indicates that the higher the level of FoMO, the higher the intensity of social media use.
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) dan intensitas penggunaan media sosial pada Generasi Z. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional guna mengetahui hubungan antara FoMO (variabel independent) dengan Intensitas Penggunaan Media Sosial pada Generasi Z (variabel dependent). Teknik pengambilan sampel yang diterapkan adalah nonprobability sampling dengan metode teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah individu Generasi Z berusia 18–27 tahun yang aktif menggunakan media sosial minimal lebih dari tiga jam per hari, dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 104 orang. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan skala Likert dengan empat opsi pilihan jawaban. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode korelasi Spearman’s rho melalui SPSS versi 21.0. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan nilai koefisien sebesar 0,796 dengan signifikansi 0,000, menandakan adanya hubungan yang sangat kuat dan positif antara FoMO dan intensitas penggunaan media sosial. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat FoMO, semakin tinggi pula intensitas penggunaan media sosial.
