PENGARUH LATIHAN INTERVAL TRAINING DAN SHUTTLE RUN TERHADAP PENINGKATAN VO2MAX PADA ATLET TAEKWONDO PENGADILAN NEGERI PALEMBANG

Abstract

Aerobic endurance capacity (VO₂ Max) is a fundamental fitness component for taekwondo athletes, enabling them to maintain the intensity of attacking techniques and accelerate physical recovery during matches. However, physical training methods implemented at the club level often lack the specificity required to optimize athletes' cardiorespiratory capacity in a measurable way. This study aimed to determine the effects of interval training and shuttle run exercises on improving the VO₂ Max of taekwondo athletes from the Palembang District Court and to compare the impact of these two methods. A quantitative approach was employed using a two-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The sample consisted of 30 athletes divided into two groups via ordinal pairing: 15 in the interval training group and 15 in the shuttle run group. The training program was conducted over four weeks with a frequency of four sessions per week. The Multistage Fitness Test (Beep Test) served as the research instrument. Data analysis involved the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene’s test for homogeneity, paired sample t-tests, and independent sample t-tests. The results showed that shuttle run training increased the average VO₂ Max from 38.0680 to 39.8513 (p = 0.000), while interval training increased the average VO₂ Max from 37.4207 to 41.5993 (p = 0.000). The independent sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.239, indicating no significant difference in the effects of the two training methods. Nevertheless, interval training resulted in a higher average increase compared to the shuttle run. Thus, both training methods are effective for improving the VO₂ Max of taekwondo athletes.

ABSTRAK

Kapasitas daya tahan aerobik () merupakan fondasi kebugaran esensial bagi atlet taekwondo dalam mempertahankan intensitas teknik serangan dan mempercepat pemulihan fisik selama pertandingan berlangsung. Namun, penerapan metode latihan fisik di tingkat klub sering kali belum spesifik dalam mengoptimalkan kapasitas kardiorespirasi atlet secara teruku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan interval training dan shuttle run terhadap peningkatan VO₂Max atlet Taekwondo Pengadilan Negeri Palembang serta mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh kedua metode latihan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen Two Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 30 atlet yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok menggunakan teknik ordinal pairing, yaitu 15 atlet kelompok interval training dan 15 atlet kelompok shuttle run. Program latihan dilaksanakan selama 4 minggu dengan frekuensi 4 kali per minggu. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan Multistage Fitness Test (Beep Test). Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas Levene Test, paired sample t-test, dan independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latihan shuttle run meningkatkan rata-rata VO₂Max dari 38,0680 menjadi 39,8513 dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Latihan interval training meningkatkan rata-rata VO₂Max dari 37,4207 menjadi 41,5993 dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Hasil independent sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,239 sehingga tidak terdapat perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara kedua metode latihan. Meskipun demikian, interval training menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan shuttle run. Dengan demikian, kedua metode latihan efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan VO₂Max atlet taekwondo.
