DAMPAK JUDI ONLINE TERHADAP STRUKTUR DAN DINAMIKA SOSIAL (STUDI KASUS PADA MASYARAKAT DESA JAMBU REJO KECAMATAN SUMBER HARTA)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of online gambling on rural social dynamics and identify forms of social capital erosion in Jambu Rejo Village, Sumber Harta District, Musi Rawas Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 16 informants, including village officials, religious leaders, community leaders, youth leaders, active online gamblers, former gamblers, and family members of gamblers. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that online gambling has significantly contributed to the erosion of social capital within the community. This erosion is reflected in declining social participation, weakened social interaction, reduced social trust due to debt-related problems and financial losses, increasing family conflicts, declining social solidarity, and weakened social control over deviant behavior. The study confirms that online gambling affects not only individual economic conditions but also the structure of social relationships and the social resilience of rural communities. Therefore, strengthening social capital through digital literacy programs, revitalization of community social activities, and enhanced roles of families and community leaders is essential to mitigate the negative impacts of online gambling.
