The use of social media as a learning medium has continued to expand, particularly in vocational education, which requires practical skills and adaptation to digital technology. Although TikTok has been widely examined as a short-form video-based learning medium, previous studies have generally focused on its use as a microlearning tool or as a learning medium in general and higher education contexts, while empirical evidence regarding its relationship with learning motivation in Digital Marketing instruction at the vocational high school level remains limited. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of TikTok as a learning medium and students’ learning motivation in the Digital Marketing subject at SMK Darul Ulum As Surur and to measure the proportion of variation in learning motivation that can be explained by TikTok use within the research model. The study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design. The population consisted of 65 eleventh-grade students, all of whom were included as respondents through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing and were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that TikTok use was positively and statistically significantly associated with students’ learning motivation (t = 8.354; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.522 indicates that 52.2% of the variation in learning motivation within the study sample could be explained by variation in TikTok use, while the remaining 47.8% was associated with factors outside the model. These findings indicate that TikTok has the potential to serve as a supporting medium for Digital Marketing instruction because its characteristics are compatible with digital content-based learning activities. The novelty of this study lies in empirically examining the relationship between TikTok use and learning motivation in the context of Digital Marketing instruction among vocational high school students, where TikTok functions not only as a medium for delivering learning content but also as part of the practical environment and digital marketing competencies being learned. These findings provide contextual evidence on the use of short-form video-based social media in vocational education in Indonesia.
