ABSTRACT
Academic anxiety is one of the psychological factors that can hinder the learning process and students’ academic achievement in school. This condition often appears in the form of excessive worry about assignments, examinations, and other academic demands, which ultimately affects students’ concentration and self-confidence. This study aims to analyze the effect of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) counseling on academic anxiety among high school students. The study employed a quantitative method with a one group pretest-posttest design, with participants selected based on high levels of academic anxiety. Data were collected using a questionnaire as the main instrument, designed to measure cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of academic anxiety, and were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results indicate that REBT counseling has a significant effect in reducing students’ academic anxiety, as reflected in decreased irrational thoughts, improved emotional regulation, and the development of more positive attitudes toward academic demands. These changes suggest that students become more capable of להתמודד learning situations in a calm and focused manner. The findings highlight that REBT is not only effective in reducing anxiety symptoms but also plays a role in fostering rational and adaptive thinking patterns that support students’ long-term academic success.
