PENGARUH KONSELING CBT SYSTEMATIC DESENSITIZATION TERHADAP KECEMASAN BERBICARA DI DEPAN KELAS PADA SISWA SMA

ABSTRACT
Speaking in front of the class is an important skill; however, not all students are able to perform optimally due to anxiety, which is characterized by nervous behavior, fear of making mistakes, and low self-confidence. This condition may negatively affect students’ academic achievement as well as social interaction. This study aims to analyze the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counseling techniques with a systematic desensitization approach on speaking anxiety among senior high school students. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 7 students with high levels of speaking anxiety selected through purposive sampling. The limited sample size was used because this study was conducted as an initial intervention (pilot study) on a specific group. Data were collected using a speaking anxiety questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test as an inferential statistical test to examine differences before and after the intervention. The results showed that the implementation of CBT with systematic desensitization techniques significantly reduced speaking anxiety in front of the class, with a significance value of (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the intervention is effective in helping students manage anxiety and improve self-confidence in academic situations.

Berbicara di depan kelas merupakan keterampilan penting, namun tidak semua siswa mampu tampil optimal karena mengalami kecemasan yang ditandai dengan perilaku gugup, takut melakukan kesalahan, dan rendahnya kepercayaan diri. Kondisi ini berpotensi berdampak pada pencapaian akademik maupun interaksi sosial siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh teknik konseling Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) dengan pendekatan systematic desensitization terhadap kecemasan berbicara di depan kelas pada siswa SMA.Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest design yang melibatkan 7 siswa dengan tingkat kecemasan berbicara tinggi yang dipilih secara purposive. Jumlah sampel yang terbatas digunakan karena penelitian ini bersifat intervensi awal (pilot study) pada kelompok spesifik. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket kecemasan berbicara yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji paired sample t-test sebagai uji statistik inferensial untuk melihat perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan CBT dengan teknik systematic desensitization berpengaruh signifikan dalam menurunkan kecemasan berbicara di depan kelas, dengan nilai signifikansi (p < 0,05). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa intervensi yang diberikan efektif dalam membantu siswa mengelola kecemasan sehingga mendukung peningkatan kepercayaan diri dalam situasi akademik.
