HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN SOSIAL DENGAN TINGKAT STRES AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA SEMESTER AKHIR DI PRODI BIMBINGAN KONSELING

Final-year students are a vulnerable group prone to experiencing academic stress due to various pressures, such as thesis writing, the burden of final assignments, and the demand to graduate on time. Unmanaged academic stress can negatively impact mental health, learning motivation, and academic performance. One factor believed to play a significant role in reducing academic stress is social support. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and academic stress among final-year students. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The subjects were all final-year students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, class of 2021, totaling 62 individuals; thus, this study used a populative approach. Data were collected using academic stress and social support scales, and analyzed with Pearson correlation after meeting the assumption of normality. The results showed a very strong and significant negative correlation between social support and academic stress (r = -0.988; p < 0.001). The higher the social support received by students, the lower their academic stress levels. These findings reinforce the theory that social support whether emotional, instrumental, or informational plays an essential role in maintaining the psychological well-being of final-year students.
ABSTRAK
Mahasiswa tingkat akhir merupakan kelompok yang rentan mengalami stres akademik akibat berbagai tekanan seperti penyusunan skripsi, beban tugas akhir, dan tuntutan kelulusan tepat waktu. Stres akademik ysang tidak tertangani dengan baik dapat berdampak pada kesehatan mental, motivasi belajar, hingga penurunan performa akademik. Salah satu faktor yang diyakini berperan dalam menurunkan tingkat stres akademik adalah dukungan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan tingkat stres akademik pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Bimbingan dan Konseling angkatan 2021 yang berjumlah 62 orang, sehingga penelitian ini bersifat populatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala stres akademik dan skala dukungan sosial, serta dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi pearson setelah asumsi normalitas terpenuhi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang sangat kuat dan signifikan antara dukungan sosial dan stres akademik (r = -0,988; p < 0,001). Semakin tinggi dukungan sosial yang diterima mahasiswa, semakin rendah tingkat stres akademik yang mereka alami. Temuan ini memperkuat teori bahwa dukungan sosial, baik secara emosional, instrumental, maupun informasional, berperan penting dalam menjaga kesejahteraan psikologis mahasiswa tingkat akhir.
