This research is motivated by the crucial role of principals in improving teacher performance, but there is a gap in studies that specifically examine effective leadership models in complex and dynamic educational situations. Therefore, this study focuses on examining the influence of principals' adaptive leadership, broken down into behavioral and skill variables, on improving teacher performance in elementary schools. Using a causal quantitative approach, this study distributed questionnaires to 364 public elementary school teachers in Bogor Regency. The collected data were then analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) to test the hypothesized relationships between the variables. After undergoing validity and reliability tests, the results of the structural model analysis showed that both adaptive leadership behavior (? = 0.424) and adaptive leadership skills (? = 0.307) had a positive and statistically significant influence on teacher performance (p < 0.01). These findings confirm that principals who implement adaptive leadership practices and skills can effectively improve teacher performance. It is concluded that adaptive leadership is a relevant strategic approach for navigating challenges and developing policies that support teacher professional development.
