MEMPELAJARI SEJAUH MANA PEMAHAMAN IBT (INQUIRY BASED TEACHING) DAN PENERAPANNYA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN IPA PADA GURU SEKOLAH DASAR STUDI KASUS DI BOGOR

One of the strategies in teaching science is inquiry based teaching. By doing this strategy the teacher is expected to be able to shape students' thinking processes to be able to think critically, and get used to thinking scientifically from an early age. Therefore, one of the abilities that science teachers must have is to understand this strategy and apply it in everyday science learning. This study intends to explore the extent of understanding of science at the elementary education level, how it is applied and whether or not there is a relationship between understanding of science and the frequency of its application in learning. To measure the teacher's understanding of the inquiry strategy, the researcher sought qualitative data by observation and interviews. Meanwhile, to find out the frequency of IBT implementation, researchers used IS by Lankin & Wallace (2015). It was found that most teachers had implemented IBT in science learning at the basic education level, although there was still an incorrect understanding. It was also found that most of the students had mastered the basic science competencies well.
ABSTRAK
Salah satu strategi dalam pengajaran sains adalah inquiry based teaching. Dengan melakukan strategi ini guru diharapkan dapat membentuk proses berpikir siswa untuk dapat bernalar kritis, dan terbiasa berpikir ilmiah sejak dini. Oleh karena itu, kemampuan yang harus dimiliki oleh guru sains salahsatunya memahami strategi ini dan menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran IPA sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menggali sejauhmana pemahaman sains pada jenjang Pendidikan dasar, bagaimana penerapannya serta ada tidaknya hubungan antara pemahaman sains dengan frekuensi penerapannya dalam pembelajaran. Untuk mengukur pemahaman guru terhadap strategi inkuiri, peneliti mencari data secara kualitatif dengan observasi dan wawancara. Sedangkan untuk mengetahui frekuensi penerapan IBT, peneliti menggunakan IS oleh Lankin & Wallace (2015). Didapatkan bahwa sebagian besar guru sudah menerapkan IBT dalam pembelajaran IPA pada jenjang pendidikan dasar, walaupun masih terdapat pemahaman yang kurang benar. Didapatkan pula bahwa sebagian besar siswa sudah menguasai kompetensi dasar IPA dengan baik.
